Cora Cervantes

Multimedia Journalist

I was born in México and raised in East Los Angeles, California. I grew up surrounded by people from different backgrounds. This experience helped me to see and understand people and issues from many different perspectives.

I completed my undergraduate studies in Political Science and the Study of Race and Ethnicity at Columbia University. I have worked in the non-profit sector as a program coordinator and policy analyst. My work focused on expanding access and equity in education, health, and immigration through policy and community development.

I was eventually led to pursue journalism. I recently completed my Master's degree in Multimedia Journalism at New York University's Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute. My work has been published by NBC News, Al-Jazeera, NPR's Latino USA, Salon, and Narratively.

I work at NBC Universal as the Diversity Coordinator for NBC News and MSNBC. I champion diversity, inclusion, and equity in storytelling.
